What is Urinalysis?
Urinalyisis health screens detect body disturbances such as endocrine or metabolic abnormalities, in which the kidneys function normally but excrete abnormal amounts of metabolic end products specific to a particular disease.
To detect intrinsic conditions that may adversely affect the kidneys or urinary tract
Urinalysis is a routine test for many patients who attend Hospital or GP surgeries for physical examinations.
What to expect?
You will be asked to provide a urine sample in a sterile container for the nurse to analyse. The Urine is first visually examined for Colour, Appearance and Volume.
Then the chemical examination are carried out using Urinalysis strips and Urinalysis analysers to detect Ph, Glucose, Ketones, Bilirubin, Nitrite, Protein, Specific Gravity, Blood, Urobilinogen and Leucocytes. Results are immediately available.
If any of the following chemical tests are positive (Nitrite, Leucocytes, Blood or Protein) we will recommend you see a GP for a further assessment.
The benefits of health screening can be felt by both the employer and the employee alike. Health screening is an effective way of increasing employee morale, and leads to reduced sickness and levels of absenteeism.
