PERFORMANCE is key to every sports person and our cardiac risk assessment can give you peace of mind and ensure that you can maximise your training in a safe way.
The European Society of Cardiology (ESC 2005) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommend cardiac risk screening for any person taking part in competitive sport. Although sport itself does not lead to cardiac arrest, it can trigger a sudden cardiac event by aggravating an undetected cardiac abnormality.
Our screening for sport can help detect risks for these conditions and helps you ensure that your organisation doesn’t lose any of its sports personnel to a sudden cardiac death. For the sports person our heart screening can give them total peace of mind and allow them to concentrate on their performance.
In detecting these hear abnormalities we can also assist your organisation and sports personnel with referral for further specialist cardiac investigation and treatment if necessary.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER
The medical involves a review by our nurses who have extensive health screening experience. This is review of the extensive questionnaire completed by the participant and the following tests are carried out:
Once the tests have been completed they will be reviewed by our Cardiologist and you will then be sent a full report on the results of your heart screening.
The report will also advise you on any further action that may need to be taken. We can also assist you with further specialist referral and have a network of cardiologists that we are happy to recommend and refer you to.
